McMURRAY, William - Putnam

William McMurray, one of the few Civil War Veterans, who had resided in Putnam Co. died Saturday morning, at Brazil where he lived for about a year. He was 89 years of age.He formerly lived near Limedale since the close of the Civil War. Born in Kentucky and enlisted for the war in a Kentucky regiment serving four years. He was married in 1871 to Miss. Victoria Sears of Greencastle. They were the parents of 8 children, all of whom have died with the exception of one son, Otis, of Brazil. The widow also survive. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Antiock church, with burial in Boone cemetery   --- thanks so much to Marilyn Walker who so graciously donated her Roachdale Times obituary collection - greatly appreciated!!
